World Premiere of Mass Setting by French Organist - Sunday, 21 June 2026, 12 pm, Westminster Cathedral, London

Mark it in the calendar: next Sunday, 21 June 2026, at the Noon High Mass, Westminster Cathedral Choir will premiere a newly commissioned Mass setting by French Organist Jean-Baptiste Robin (b.1976).

The new Mass is entitled (as are so many of the glorious French Romantic and 20th century Masses) "Messe Solennelle". Mr Robin's website lists the full title as "Messe solennelle pour la cathédrale de Westminster for choir and organ (or two organs)" (https://jbrobin.com/?q=catalogue-sous-menu&id=music-04).

He separately describes the imminent premiere as follows:

His reference to "organists and choir" suggests that we will hear the double organ version - yes please!

We will also have a motet by him, "In spiritu humilitatis" (a change from the superb but ubiquitous Giovanni Croce setting). This is also part  of the new Drome commission. All very exciting.
